My regular LJ is at
ariedana, and this journal is chronicling my adventures with chronic migraine disease and complicated migraines, and my attempts to find a treatment that works.
And if you stumble upon this and decide to share your thoughts, I appreciate that. But there are a few things you should know:
1) I've tried Excedrin Migraine. And Topamax. And pretty much every prescription, non-prescription, and alternative treatment available in the U.S. I welcome your thoughts on things that have worked for you, but forgive my exasperation if you tell me to try magnesium like the dozens before you.
2) I've done lots of mind-over-matter work and meditation and those sorts of things. Not ruling anything out, but my migraines do have a probable physical cause that needs medical treatment of some sort.
3) I have gone to top-flight doctors at two top medical centers. If you know a specific and excellent doctor who might be willing to consult on my case, I would love that, but throwing random things out like "You should go to the Mayo Clinic" (like my grandmother's advice) is not that helpful.
Don't mean to sound snippy, but I've dealt with a lot of unhelpful "help" in the past few years, so I just wanted to prevent more of that here. Otherwise, it's a judgement-free zone here, for me and for others dealing with similar journeys. So welcome.
